Wahoo — Entry Seven
Greenscreen shoot #2
Class Five delivery.
The approach to shooting the live action plate for “Space” was similar to entry six. Before shooting, I experimented with light in Houdini and blocked out the setup for the greenscreen room. The goal is relatively simple: emulate the sun from outer space.
I planned for one key and multiple greenscreen fills. I was not sure if bounce cards would be necessary. I laid out the blueprint with the intention of using my left hand. My right was camera-ready, so I mirrored the setup and placed the setup by the diagram’s top wall. To avoid grain, I did bounce light from camera left and behind the camera. I used the Fillex 300W at 6200K for the Sun. , and placed a white v-card behind the camera. The key is the equivalent of a small area-light. The harsh falloff of the sun will be accentuated in the grade. The plate will be mirrored for the final shot.
The chosen live-action plate.
The next task at hand is to blend the camera track from the footage of Laura and digitally extend the camera motion. I am running into technical difficulties for taking absolute position and mapping it to a curve. Updates to come.
