Wahoo — Entry Nine

The most difficult part in the BoltHFRoam sequence is the stitch between the live action footage the and the extended camera motion. The camera’s transition will play a large role in the shot’s believability. Because I will have to blend camera path’s multiple times, I decided it was worth to revisit my solution.

Previously, I snapped the starting points from the keyframed camera’s path to the end of the camera tracked path. This works, but it requires a slow curve in order fluidly transition. The shot was way too long. It spent too much time focussing on the cyclist when the digital takeover will occur.

I tried transitioning the camera tracked curve to a smooth version before transitioning to the fully digital camera. After some discussion with LLMs like ChatGPT and Claude, it was clear that the curve attributes should be blended instead of points. I vibe coded to get a wrangle that did the trick. I found that Claude gave better results, though ChatGPT provided more information to ideate upon.
